Behind the Scenes: A New Batch Arrives at Our California Warehouse

Fresh inventory, carefully handled, ready for your home.

If you have ever ordered furniture online, you have probably asked the question: Is it actually in stock?

It is a fair question. Many brands list items as available when they are really sitting on a container ship somewhere across the ocean. Then you wait. And wait. And wait.

At Karhyn, we believe in being honest about inventory. That is why we maintain our own warehouse in California — and why we want to show you what happens when a new batch arrives.

The Journey: From Container to Warehouse

Every few weeks, a container arrives at our California warehouse. Inside are new batches of our collections — Haven, Ovelo, Vista, Corin, and Hearth — freshly crafted and shipped across the Pacific.

The container is unloaded at the dock and trucked to our warehouse. This first step is simple, but it matters. We work with logistics partners who understand that furniture is not like other cargo. It needs to be handled carefully from the moment it leaves the factory.

Inside the Warehouse: Unloading and Inspecting

When the container arrives at our warehouse, the real work begins.

Each pallet is unloaded one by one. Every piece of furniture is inspected before it enters our inventory system. We look for:

  • Any damage that may have occurred during shipping

  • Consistency in finish and grain

  • Proper packaging for individual pieces

If something does not meet our standards, it is set aside. It does not go to a customer. Period.

This inspection step is time-consuming. But it is also essential. We want to be the ones who catch any issue — not you, after the furniture is already in your living room.

Organizing the Inventory

Once a piece passes inspection, it is added to our inventory system.

Every item gets a location in the warehouse. This sounds simple, but it is critical for two reasons:

  • Accuracy. When you order a Haven coffee table, we need to know exactly where it is.

  • Speed. Organized inventory means faster picking, packing, and shipping.

We use a labeled system for each collection and each piece type. Coffee tables in one section. Sideboards in another. Consoles organized by series.

The Pallet Mountain

One of the most satisfying sights in the warehouse is what we call the pallet mountain.

After unloading, the empty pallets stack up. Some are reused for outgoing shipments. Others are broken down and recycled. Either way, it is a visible sign of movement — old inventory leaving, new inventory arriving.

For customers, a full warehouse means one thing: your furniture is ready to go. No backorders. No unexpected delays. Just reliable shipping.

Why a California Warehouse Matters

We chose California for a reason.

First, it reduces shipping times for most of our US customers. A warehouse on the West Coast means faster ground shipping to California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, and beyond.

Second, it allows us to offer white-glove delivery more efficiently. When furniture is already in the country, we can coordinate with delivery partners without the uncertainty of international shipping.

Third, it gives us control. We are not at the mercy of port delays or customs holdups. Our inventory is here, inspected, and ready.

What This Means for You

When you order from Karhyn, here is what you can expect:

  • Accurate inventory. If it is on the site, it is in our warehouse.

  • Faster shipping. No waiting for a container to clear customs.

  • Better quality control. We have already inspected your piece.

  • Easy delivery. White glove service starts from our warehouse, not from a port.

A Quick Note on Back in Stock

Sometimes, a collection sells out faster than expected. When that happens, we immediately order more. But we never list an item as available until it has arrived at our California warehouse and passed inspection.

This means our “back in stock” announcements are always honest. If we say it is back, it is really back.

From Our Warehouse to Your Home

The journey of a Karhyn piece does not end at the warehouse. From there, it moves to packing, then to shipping, then to your front door.

But the warehouse is where we take a deep breath. The hard part — the long ocean journey, the customs process, the risk of damage — is behind us. What remains is the good part: getting your furniture to you, carefully and reliably.
